Fédération Internationale des Journalistes et Ecrivains du Tourisme (World Federation of Travel Journalists & Writers)
ABUJET

ABUJET is among the first members of World Federation of Travel Journalists & Writers, accepted in FIJET in 1957.

In all, ABUJET has 34 journalist members from the leading media in Bulgaria. Out of this number, 26 of them are also members of FIJET. The Bulgarian association was founded in 1956 and is the oldest professional journalistic organization in the country. Its main objective continues to be to unite journalists and writers writing about tourism and to promote Tourism within in the country, as well as  publications both in Bulgaria and abroad.

In spite of its many years of history, youthful enthusiasm and friendship are the most important aspects of ABUJET. During this long period the organization has never discontinued its activities and has never been an arena for misconceptions or strife.

Only a year after the first congress of FIJET (1957), which is held in 1956 in Nice, the Bulgarian association of travel journalists and writers – ABUJET – was accepted as a member during official ceremonies at the Congress in Koln, Germany.

In 1979 the significant Golden Apple Award was awarded to the Rila monastery in Bulgaria, a UNESCO Heritage List. A few Bulgarian journalists have held important positions in the management of the International federation. Bogomil Nonev, Yassen Antov and Emil Alexandrov have all been Vice-presidents of FIJET. Iskra Koynova served as the Treasurer.

The Bulgarian association is managed by its Board of Directors.
